I had a nightmare.

Stuck in a dark room, one tiny flickering light-source, and something just out of sight. Dreams have a way of showing you things that trigger your fight or flight reflex. Something not quite right, the wrong room in the wrong house, your best friend has your uncle's face, or worse - that body isn't quite human.

Waking up drenched in sweat at 3am, yet inspired, I picked up my drawing tablet and drew the first of a series of flight or flight related drawings, based on the black & white trail-cam type footage you often see when people show cryptids.

After the first few, a short story began to emerge.

I created a cryptid hunter persona on Instagram, and "decrypted" the images as found-footage data, along with a few short videos to trail the imagery along.

The name, LYMBYX, is a variant on the word "limbic" from the "limbic system": the part of the brain involved in our behavioural and emotional responses, especially when it comes to behaviours we need for survival: feeding, reproduction, caring for our young, and fight or flight responses.
